2009 Life Member
* Seaford Football
Clubs 2009 Life Member is a person that was recruited way back in 1972
by club stalwart Bruce Stewart from VFA club Sandringham.
* In his first year in 1972 he won the Seniors Most Consistent Award.
*He returned back to VFA club Sandringham to further his playing career
at the time in the second best competition in Australia.
* In 1977 he was lured back to Seaford Football Club as a player in
which he lasted 5 rounds before sustaining a knee injury which
prematurely ended his playing career.
* In 1981 he became Chairman of Selectors to Premiership Coach Phil
Fryer and played a pivotal role in the 1981 Premiership success.
* In 1982 he once again held the role of Chairman of Selectors in a
season that Seaford Football Club finished the season as Runners Up to
eventual winners Rye Football Club.
* The next couple of years he took the opportunity to coach in the VFA
at Sandringham and Camberwell to further his already astute knowledge at
a higher level.
* In 1985 he returned to the club and played an off field role to Coach
John Hunter and once again played an instrumental role in the 1985
Premiership success.
* In 1986 he was appointed Coach of Seaford Football Club, the seniors
made the finals under his guidance beating Rye & Pines Football Clubs in
the lead up Finals, only to be beaten by Chelsea in the Grand Final and
finishing the season as Runners Up.
* The following years this person stepped away from football to develop
a very successful business and begin a family.
* Fast forward to 2005 saw the return simply as a father who now has a
son playing at Seaford Football Club which he comes to watch.
* In 2007 he was approached by Paul Kennedy to play an off field role
which culminated in the club winning its long awaited Premiership
interesting note our last Premiership in 1985 the same person played a
similar role in the success of both.
* In 2009 he took on the role of Football Manager / Chairman of
Selectors once again playing a vital support role off the ground in you
guessed it another Premiership under Anthony Agius.
* Other contributions to Seaford Football Club include:
* Co - op Member for the extension of the clubrooms many years ago.
* Number 1 Major Sponsor of Seaford Football Club over the past 4 – 5
years.
* Individual Sponsor of senior players.
* Most recent funding for our current improvement of our clubrooms.
Life Membership shouldn’t come
easy, and should be hard earned,
over a long period of time this person fits the mould,
he represents what Seaford Football Club stands for,
Dedication, Integrity, Honesty, and Loyalty,
things you earn and obtain over a long period of time.
We are very fortunate to have this person at our club
please charge your glasses and it gives me great pleasure to announce
the 2009 Seaford Football Club Life Member.
